why must we insist on destroying the element of surprise?
Shortly after wholeheartedly agreeing with Nialler9’s top album of 2008 I find myself worrying about my severe lack of knowledge regarding the acts of 2009 I need, NEED, to familiarise myself with before I loose all of my cool points and resort to getting my music tips from Ray “today I played Fleet Foxes and nearly fainted from the stench of my own cool” D’Arcy. Phew, long sentence.
So yeah, the BBC in their infinite, grandiose, rather brilliant wisdom don’t wait for December to tell you who they think rocked out in a rather special way that year. No bleedin’ way. This is Auntie, and Auntie don’t wait for the popular vote. Auntie predicts the FUTURE.
So here it is. The ten acts you will listen to this year, despite any plans you think you may have made to the contrary.
Me, I like surprises.
(just realised I stepped inside from the cold an hour ago and am currently sitting with coat, scarf and hat on. Winter: a great time to accessorize indoors.)
Nialler9 did a “ones to watch for 2009“. I recommend Alela Diane. Thanks Cupcaketologist.
Song doing the rounds in my brain today: Ryan Adams and The Cardinals – Magick
